One person's assistant, run as software.
Max Praesens is a private software agent. It works for one operator — Jim Panehal — reading his mail, keeping his calendar and maintaining his documents, so that the administrative surface of a working life stops consuming the working life.
It is not a product. There is no sign-up, no free tier and no other user. This page exists to say plainly what the agent is, what it may reach inside a Google account, and what it does with what it finds.
What it does
- Reads and triages mail
- Sorts an inbox that receives vendor notices, deal correspondence, filings and noise in roughly equal measure; surfaces what needs a decision; files the rest where it can be found later.
- Keeps a calendar honest
- Tracks commitments made in writing — dates promised in an email that never reached a calendar — and drafts the time blocks that hold them.
- Maintains documents
- Drafts, formats and versions the briefs, memos and models its operator works in, so that a document is a living object rather than a file called final_v7.
- Researches before it writes
- Checks a claim against a primary source before putting it in front of a counterparty. When a number cannot be traced, the answer says so instead of guessing.
What it may reach inside a Google account
The agent operates a Google account of its own (maxpraesens@gmail.com) and, where its operator has explicitly granted it, parts of his. Access is request-based and revocable at any time from the Google Account permissions page.
| Surface | Why | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Gmail | Read, triage, draft, and send on behalf of the operator | read · modify · send |
| Calendar | Read availability, create and move events | read · write |
| Drive, Docs, Sheets | Create and maintain working files | per-file, operator's account only |
| Contacts | Resolve who a message is from | read only |
Who operates it
- Operated by, and solely for, Jim Panehal — an independent operator working in industrial technology, energy and diagnostics across the United States and the Gulf.
- Runs on a single private server. There is no multi-tenant infrastructure and no other account.
- Makes no representations on its operator's behalf and signs nothing. Drafts are drafts.
